The UK is the leading choice for students when considering where to study abroad for a better future. In the last ten years the number of courses on offer and the number of institutions has grown considerably. With all claiming to offer the best pathway to high ranking universities it has become more and more difficult for parents to decide. There are so many options in terms of courses, institutions, cities and even budgets.

An overseas education expert and graduate from a prestigious university will share information on studying in the UK. This seminar will help to steer parents through these options and give them a clear overview of the UK education system so they can decide what is best for their child. We believe this is not just a case of finding the best course or best institution but finding the right solution for each child.

To be conducted in English. By reservation only.

Top Tips for your IELTS test

Each month we bring you Top Tips to help you prepare for the IELTS test - your passport to studying overseas. You can find more learning resources at www.britishcouncil.org.hk/IELTS, as well as test dates and online registration. Here are this monthˇ¦s tips:

Reading
Do:
Look carefully at the title of the passage and any subtitles and illustrations it may have. You can get a quick idea of what the passage is about from these.
Don't: Don't go back to the beginning of the passage for each question when you know from the task type that the answers will come in the order of the information in the passage.

Writing
Do: Remember that Writing Task 2 carries more marks, so you need plenty of time to answer it.

Don't: Don't use note form or bullet points.

Listening
Do: Write all your answers as you listen. Remember, you won't hear the recording a second time.
Don't: Don't write more than the maximum number of words or letters allowed for each answer.

Speaking
Do: Practise speaking for two minutes for the long turn in Part 2.
Don't: Don't worry if the examiner stops you in Part 2. It means you have spoken enough, and s/he has to keep to the timing of the test.
