The University of Warwick: Seminar - Part-time PhD study and full-time MSc study
 

The University of Warwick is one of the UK’s leading universities and was ranked third overall in the UK by the Guardian newspaper in June 2010.

The seminar will be conducted by Professor SW Cheung, Director of Asia Pacific of WMG (formerly Warwick Manufacturing Group). WMG is an academic multi-disciplinary unit at the university with an acknowledged reputation for excellence in research and teaching, for innovation, and for links with business and industry. The seminar will be divided into two parts:

1.
Part-time PhD study: 2.00 p.m. – 3.00 p.m.
Students can apply for PhD study on a part-time basis. Students will visit the university once a year for a week to meet their supervisors. The research themes cover a whole range of areas, including Material & Operations Management, Financial Engineering, E-Business Management, Logistics Management, Manufacturing & Digital Technologies.

2. Full-time MSc study: 3.00 p.m. – 4.00 p.m.
Students who wish to enroll on the full-time MSc course in the UK this October are invited to join the seminar. Nine MSc courses are offered by WMG:

The University of Southampton: Pre-departure briefing
 

The presentation is designed to prepare students for their studies at the University of Southampton. It will cover an introduction to the university, information about the city of Southampton, accommodation options available, bursaries and scholarships, and practical advice on what to do and pack before arriving at the university.

The presentation will be delivered by Zoe Yao, Country Development Manager from the International Office. The university’s current student representatives (Chinese Student Society members) will also be there to answer any questions about what it is like to study at the university. Refreshments will be available throughout the event.

The Chinese Student Society (CSS) in the University of Southampton will organise activities in Hong Kong, including social café gatherings and an orientation camp (6 - 8 September) for the offer holders to get to know their future classmates, make new friends, and better prepare for exciting university life in Southampton. British Council : Seminar - ‘Studying medicine in the UK – a guide for students and their parents’
 

What makes a good medical student? What makes a good doctor? What is the best way to study medicine? What do universities look for when selecting the very best applicants for such a competitive subject?

This seminar aims to answer the above questions, offering invaluable advice on the kinds of students that prestigious medical schools generally look for, together with practical tips on making a strong application for those serious about a career in medicine. The session will be conducted by Professor David Thompson, who is responsible for student admissions for the University of Manchester’s MBchB programme.

In addition, the British Council will provide an introduction to the UCAS university application process and general information about study in the UK in the 2011 academic year.
